This Wiki is dedicated to the research and discussion of drama in the secondary English classroom.
Our primary motivation for creating this space is to explore methods for using drama to study the concept of "childhood" in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.
We encourage all members and guests on this wiki to post activities, lessons, and ideas about To Kill A Mockingbird and drama and performance in the classroom.
Background:
As part of our final project for our Drama and Performance in the Classroom course, we have chosen to create this Wiki to compile and publish our opinions, research, conclusions, and beliefs about drama in the classroom.
Keeping to the philosophy of the University of Pittsburgh Education Department, we encourage student-centered learning.
Focus Strategies:
Our focus strategies are based initially in our group familiarity with children’s literature as well as To Kill A Mockingbird.
While this is a work which we will likely teach in the future we felt that using a theme and or topic which was familiar, such as “Childhood”, there would be a higher degree of comfort working within our topic.
